The single is featured on his second solo album

Jimin of 21st century pop icons BTS has dropped a new single titled “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” featuring Loco along with an accompanying track video. It is a pre-release to the multifaceted artist’s upcoming second solo album Muse, slated for release on July 19th via BigHit Music.

Loosely inspired by The Beatles’ 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” sonically blends hip-hop elements with the big band sound characterized by a large-scale orchestra, creating an upbeat, lively rhythm and dynamic atmosphere.

For this track, Jimin once again collaborated with producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and Evan, who contributed to his first solo album Face. During the production of Face, they casually began calling themselves the Smeraldo Garden Marching Band, working together like a cohesive band. This playful idea eventually became a reality, solidifying as the title of the pre-release single. Tommy Brown, known for producing megahits for Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd, as well as songwriter and producer Mr. Franks, also participated in the production.

Referencing the fictional flower Smeraldo, which symbolizes “the truth untold,” the lyrics tenderly express the longing to confess and find love on behalf of those unable to articulate their feelings. This theme connects to the legend of Smeraldo referenced in “The Truth Untold” featuring Steve Aoki from BTS’ Love Yourself ‘Tear’ album. Jimin’s soft, sentimental vocals enhance the heartfelt nature of the lyrics, while the energetic yet intricate rap of the featured artist, South Korean rapper Loco, creates a unique synergy between them, further amplifying the track’s charm.

The video highlights the song’s lively mood with vibrant colors and flowers throughout. It begins with a long shot of a serene landscape which quickly transitions to Jimin as seen through a lens focused on him. The shot then zooms out to reveal him as the vocalist of a band, with producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and Evan acting as the band’s musicians, and Loco making a special appearance as the featured artist. The cinematic opening credits as well as the faded grainy texture of the video add a nostalgic, vintage feel. Jimin’s suave dance moves and smooth, versatile voice are highlighted with increasingly eye-catching effects, delivering an irresistible energy to make for an enjoyable viewing experience.

Jimin’s second solo album Muse is set to further expand his musical palette and document his journey to find the source of his inspiration through seven tracks interconnected through the common theme of “love.”
