The series features Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, and Gretchen Wilson
This Sunday, October 19th, CBS is set to premiere its new music competition series, The Road, with an extended 90-minute episode at 9 pm ET/PT. The docu-follow format follows 12 up-and-coming musicians as they navigate the gritty and unforgiving life of a touring musician.
The contestants are Adam Sanders of Lake City, FL; Billie Jo Jones of Emory, Texas; Blaine Bailey of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Briana Adams of Winchester, Texas; Britnee Kellogg of Anthem, Arizona; Cassidy Daniels of Marion, North Carolina; Channing Wilson of Lafayette, Georgia; Cody Hibbard of Adair, Oklahoma; Forrest McCurren of Jefferson City, Missouri; Jenny Tolman of Nashville; Jon Wood of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and Olivia Harms of Canby, Oregon.
These 12 talented artists on the verge of stardom will compete as opening acts for Grammy Award winner Keith Urban at music venues across America, providing a high-stakes platform to document their musical journey and seize the grand prize. Throughout the season, Keith is joined by executive producers Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, “Tour Manager” Gretchen Wilson, Jordan Davis, Dustin Lynch, Brothers Osbourne, and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, who, along with the live venue audience, will determine who advances to the next city. Only one of these talented triple threats – singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists – will walk away with a coveted performance slot on the Mane Stage at Stagecoach in 2026. The winner will also be awarded a Red Bull prize package, $250,000, and a recording contract.
On Tuesday (Oct 14th), we attended a premiere event at Ole Red Nashville, where we chatted with several contestants on the red carpet. The event featured a screening of the first episode, but was abruptly cut short before revealing any eliminations. It also featured performances by all of the contestants, which was hosted by Wilson, who kicked off the night with an a cappella chorus of “Redneck Woman.”
