It marks the band’s fifth Top 10 album

Rockers Chevelle bow in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 with their ninth full-length album, NIRATIAS. It debuts at No. 9, and is the first new release to chart within the Top 10 in over three weeks. In addition, the album also debuts at No. 1 Billboard’s Rock Album, Alternative Album, Hard Music, Overall Album, Digital Album, and Internet Album charts.

“Self Destructor,” the album’s acclaimed lead single, also reaches the summit of the active rock radio chart this week, their 12th No. 1 single at the format.

NIRATIAS is an acronym for Nothing Is Real and This Is a Simulation, and it represents the band at their dimension-blurring best, their most pummeling, and most provocative. The body of work twists and turns through crushing guitars and haunting melodies like a cosmically heavy roller coaster at the edge of existence. The brother duo of Pete and Sam Loeffler teamed up once again with longtime producer Joe Barresi, writing and recording throughout 2019 and 2020. The results are an intriguing and inimitable body of work, with themes that reveal themselves throughout the album’s 13 songs.

The album artwork is by Boris Vallejo. The famed and award-winning artist is responsible for the posters used for films like Knightriders and National Lampoon’s Vacation, as well as iconic 70’s and 80’s science fiction novel covers and magazines (such as Heavy Metal).

Throughout their career, Chevelle have transformed rock music as tried-and-true outliers. The multi-platinum Chicago rock band have generated close to 1.7 billion global streams, earned 12 No. 1 hits, and sold out shows worldwide. Their catalog spans the double-platinum Wonder What’s Next highlighted by the double-platinum smash “The Red” and platinum “Send The Pain Below” as well as the platinum This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) and gold Vena Sera. They’ve landed five Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, including Sci-Fi Crimes [2009], Hats Off to the Bull [2011], La Gárgola [2014], The North Corridor [2016] and now NIRATIAS [2021]. The latter three each captured No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums Chart.

With the success of NIRATIAS, Chevelle continue to elevate to another stratosphere in 2021.
