Red Steagall plays lead role as farmer

Platinum-selling artist Cody Johnson released the music video for his RIAA gold-certified, Top 10 hit single “Dirt Cheap” this morning (Fri, June 28th) with a broadcast premiere on CMT and on the Paramount Times Square Billboard in New York. That debut was followed by a YouTube premiere and post-watch party where fans could watch a behind-the-scenes conversation with Cody and director Dustin Haney about making the video. This is the fourth consecutive video Cody has partnered with Dustin.

The video stars Red Steagall in the role of the farmer. Red is a highly regarded actor, poet, and performer and a long-time friend of and mentor to Cody. Josh Phillips, who wrote “Dirt Cheap,” appears as one of the contractors trying to convince the farmer to sell his farm.

“Dirt Cheap” is the second single off Johnson’s Leather album released last fall. Cody continues the Leather Tour tonight with shows scheduled through December.
