The song features Justin Bieber

It’s been nearly 37,000 hours since 3x Grammy Award-winners Dan + Shay released the smash hit “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber on October 4, 2019. As of yesterday, the duo can call themselves “billionaires” on Spotify, having crossed the one billion streams mark, a rarity that only a handful of country artists have achieved.

“A billion is a difficult number to comprehend in general, but to know that one song has been streamed over a billion times on a single platform is just incredible,” says the duo’s Dan Smyers. “We’re grateful for everyone who had a hand in creating 10,000 Hours, and everyone who took the time to listen. Here’s to a billion more!”

The song marks Bieber’s 16th track to surpass a billion streams on the platform, making him the artist with the most. “10,000 Hours” is the latest of more than 500 songs that have surpassed one billion streams on the platform.

It’s been an incredible year (aka 8,460 hours) for the guys, who shared their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Bigger Houses, this fall, following the bombshell release of their revelatory short film, The Drive. The video documented Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney giving a soul-baring review of the struggles and triumphs they faced behind closed doors during some of the most successful recent years of their career.

Co-produced by the duo’s Dan Smyers and Scott Hendricks, Bigger House features songs written and recorded during their journey back to solid ground, including their latest hit single “Save Me The Trouble.” Currently Top 5 and climbing rapidly, the track was welcomed at country radio as the highest Country Aircheck debut since June 2022 and marked the duo’s largest career add day ever.

Dan + Shay are making plans to take the new music to the people in 2024 with The Heartbreak On The Map Tour set to kick off in February. The 19-city tour aptly receives its title from “Heartbreak On The Map,” the third song, and early fan-favorite contender, on Bigger Houses. Supporting Dan + Shay on this tour will be acclaimed singer-songwriters Ben Rector and Hailey Whitters.

Bigger Houses follows the duo’s record-shattering, critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning, platinum album, Good Things. Also co-produced by Smyers, the highly imaginative LP featured their most recent country radio No. 1’s – the platinum-certified hits “I Should Probably Go To Bed” and 2x platinum “Glad You Exist,” as well as the 5x multi-platinum global smash “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber. Good Things was also the first country album in the streaming era to achieve RIAA gold certification at release and is one of the only 12 albums all-genre to be released and go gold in 2021.

In addition, Dan + Shay will become the first-ever coaching duo on NBC’s Emmy-winning program The Voice, joining Reba McEntire, John Legend and Chance the Rapper for season 25 airing in spring 2024. The pair will bring a wealth of experience to their team, with a long list of impressive accolades that include becoming the first and only artist to win the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance 3x consecutively since the category’s inception (2021 – “10,000 Hours,” 2020 – “Speechless,” 2019 – “Tequila”). Dan + Shay claimed their third consecutive win for Favorite Country Duo or Group at the American Music Awards (2022), where they began their streak by sweeping their categories in 2020, becoming the first country artist ever to win Collaboration of the Year. In addition, the 3x ACM Awards Duo of the Year and 2x CMA Awards Duo of the Year winners were named Top Country Duo/Group at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.
