The rocker returned to the stage over the weekend after a five-year break
David Lee Roth has announced several tour dates for the summer and early fall of 2025. These dates follow the Van Halen singer’s first full public performance in five years, which took place on May 3rd at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland. At that show, he performed a 16-song set consisting entirely of Van Halen classics.
Presales start tomorrow (Tues, May 6th) at 10 am local time followed by the public sale on Friday, May 9th.
It’s worth noting that after his M3 Rock Festival performance, Diamond Dave hinted at more shows to come, saying to the crowd, “We’ve reached the end of my first retirement. How many retirements did Rocky have? Nine? See you on the road!”
The news may come as a surprise to some as Roth announced his retirement in late 2021 with a “career-ending residency” at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. However, “due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for those working and attending the shows,” the entire thing was canceled, even after the addition of new shows with Roth giving Fox News a cryptic tease about not actually retiring.
“There’s always a tomorrow for a singer. Not so much for a trombone player these days, okay?” he says. “How many times did Rocky retire? Seven. I think number three was my favorite. How many times did Rambo have to come out of retirement in order to make the sequel?”
In the past couple of years, Roth has released nearly 20 tracks, stemming from two separate recording sessions from 2007 and 2022.
