Fans have until 5 pm ET on NYE to request refunds

Dead & Company are offering fans refunds for their sold out Playing in the Sand 2022 vacation experience next month if they’re wary of traveling due to COVID-19. The event is set for January 7-10th and 13-16th at the spectacular AAA Four Diamond Awarded, Moon Palace Cancún. The shows are moving forward as planned, but the band and promoter CID Presents are giving fans a limited chance chance to obtain a refund. Ticketholders have until 5 pm ET on December 31st to request a refund.

“Dead & Company is the ONLY artist giving blanket refunds at this time for CID events,” band reps share in an email sent to ticketholders. “As you know, Dead & Company has always had strict COVID protocols and those will not only continue in Mexico but even more safety measures have been put into place.”

Organizers have also provided strict safety measures for attendees in order to provide a “safe, comfortable experience for all guests, artists and staff.” Adults must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of a negative test within 48 hours of departure and check in. Antigen tests will also be administered at check in and at departure.

Face masks will be required during transportation, including to and from the airport as well as on any adventure transportation, and during check-in. Masks are also required by the Moon Palace in all common areas inside the resort. While masks are encouraged to be worn during the entire event, they’re not required.

CID Presents makes it clear that any guest 12 and over who arrives without proof of vaccination and a negative test will be denied entry without a refund. No adult guests may enter without being fully vaccinated, but unvaccinated children under 12 can attend with proof of daily antigen tests that cost $19 per day.

Organizers recommend purchasing travel insurance as refunds will not be given for those who test positive for COVID-19 once the refund period expires.

The two weekend excursion will feature three unforgettable nights of Dead & Company performing three unique, intimate concerts on a private stretch of white sand beach just feet from the Caribbean Sea. In addition to daytime entertainment and nightly concerts, guests will be encouraged to enrich their weekend with exploration of the natural beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula and rich Mayan culture through various off-site adventures including diving in underground cenotes, visiting the lost capital of Chichen Itza, discovering the natural beauty of Isla Mujeres, sailing on luxury catamarans, and more.

All six shows with Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimen will be livestreamed at nugs.net starting January 7th. Three and six show discounted bundles are also available and will available on demand for 48 hours after each show airs live.

The band also addresses the rumors of John Mayer’s attendance in a new message.

“Now that we have issued some refunds for Playing in the Sand 2022, more packages are available for those of you that want to join us. Also reassuring everyone that @JOHNMAYER is heading to Mexico!”
