Video celebrates singer’s 29th birthday

Demi Lovato has released the original video for “Melon Cake” in celebration of the pop star’s 29th birthday. Directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the video is immediately captivating with vibrant visuals that bring the singer’s buoyant anthem and heartfelt lyrics to life. The music video premieres exclusively on Lovato’s Facebook page, along with an exclusive Behind the Scenes feature on IGTV, and a birthday-themed Stories Playlist on Instagram.

“The song is me saying goodbye to melon cake,” Lovato shares. “It was a big step for me, and I wanted to celebrate it.”

“Melon Cake” is off the singer’s critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Album Sales Chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, following its release on April 2nd.

The album served as a companion piece to Loavto’s YouTube Originals documentary, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil. Together the album and documentary see Lovato sharing the story of the near-fatal overdose in 2018 for the first time, as well as giving a glimpse into the singer’s life today and path to healing. The deeply personal album is executive produced by Lovato and manager Scooter Braun.

The news comes ahead of Lovato’s upcoming four-part series Unidentified with Demi Lovato on Peacock, which will see the singer, skeptical best friend Matthew, and sister Dallas attempt to help uncover the truth about the UFO phenomena. While consulting with leading experts, the trio will investigate recent eyewitness encounters, uncover secret government reports, and conduct tests at known UFO hot spots.
