Career-spanning album drops this fall
Dolly Parton has announced Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection for release on CD and 2 LP on November 18th. The career-spanning, cross-label anthology features 23 essential recordings from 1971-2020 for the first time on one album. The project includes liner notes penned by Robert K. Oermann, who collaborated with Parton on her 2020 autobiography, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.
“I’ve got some big news! My Greatest Hits album, Diamonds & Rhinestones, is coming November 18th. This record is a collection of my favorite songs, and yours!” she shares on Instagram.
Gems on Diamonds & Rhinestones include Parton’s performances with Kenny Rogers on “Islands in the Stream” and “Real Love”, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette with “Silver Threads and Golden Needles” from Honky Tonk Angels, and “Faith,” her delightfully surprising 2020 collaboration with the Swedish electropop dance duo Galantis featuring Mr. Probz.
A 2 LP pink glitter edition will be available exclusively through Parton’s webstore.
It’s not the only music Parton is releasing this year. She and Kelly Clarkson’s duet of “9 To 5” will be released digitally on September 9th. The song, produced by Shane McAnally, made its premiere during Still Working 9 to 5 documentary that chronicles the 40th anniversary of the classic 9 To 5 film that stars Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman.
On October 14th, Parton will release an expanded edition of her 2020 Christmas album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, with eight tracks, including rarities making their CD, vinyl and digital debuts. A Holly Dolly Christmas: Ultimate Deluxe Edition will be available on CD and 2 LP white vinyl via Warner Music Nashville. The music will also be available the same day on digital and streaming services. Parton’s classic track “A Smoky Mountain Christmas,” one of the rarities from the Ultimate Deluxe Edition, is now available digitally.
This holiday season, Parton will also star in NBC’s Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. The cast has been unveiled to feature Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus as guest stars with Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gasteyer and Angel Parker also starring.
A release date for the film is pending, but many Dollywood guests have shared social media encounters with Parton, Nelson and other cast members during filming this past summer.
