The acoustic ballad is full of hand-me-down wisdom

Country-soul troubadour Drake White delivers a moving new track “Life, Love and War,” sharing the hand-me-down wisdom of a country life – at the very moment, it all changes… with parenthood.

Co-written by White with Erik Dylan and Andy Sheridan, the big-picture ballad captures the epiphany of suddenly seeing your place in the world – a homespun message of hope from a proud father to newborn child that draws from White’s deeply personal experience with his son Hawk following his emotional journey with his wife Alex through IVF.

Co-produced by Jonathan Singleton, the song features an acoustic guitar highlighting White’s tender Southern vocal. All throughout, he explores the thoughts racing through a new dad’s mind, and the genuine wish all parents have for their sons and daughters: To flourish through “Life, Love and War.”

“My wife and I battled infertility for seven years,” White explains. “When I finally became a father, I was overcome with joy, but I also had fear. Was I enough? Would I be gone too much as a musician? Would I be able to catch his fastball with my left hand? Would I be able to father him as well as my amazing father did for me? So I wrote. I wrote him a letter. I wrote him this song. To all the men out there with their heels in the mud doing the best job they can, happy Father’s Day!”

The official music video was directed by Justin Burgan with Zack Knudsen serving as the Creative Director.

Arriving as a new creative chapter unfolds, “Life, Love and War” follows the May release of White’s mischievous do-it-all anthem “10lbs of S#!T,” a track overflowing with lightning-quick lyricism and unbridled country-rock joy.

Both new tracks come on the heels of a big year, as White celebrated the release of The Bridge EP in 2023. Featuring seven songs filled with inspiration, love and conviction, each track on The Bridge was co-written by White with a cast including Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd, Leslie Satcher and more, combining all-new tracks with reimagined versions of fan favorites and a collaboration with Colbie Caillat.

Recently, the critically acclaimed artist-songwriter wrapped up the first leg of The Bridge Tour in Detroit, Michigan on May 4th, and will continue with nationwide dates scheduled across North Carolina, Kansas, Iowa, his native Alabama and beyond – including select dates with Jamey Johnson. White’s 2024 run is currently set to finish on September 14th in Savannah, Tennessee.
