New shows set for Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane & Christchurch

Elton John is returning to Australia and New Zealand in January 2023 to perform two rescheduled Auckland shows and five special “encore” performances as part of his multi-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. Chugg Entertainment, Frontier Touring and AEG Presents will bring the Rocket Man to Newcastle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Christchurch early next year.

With an unparalleled career that redefined the cultural landscape and saw over 300 million albums sold, John is — after two years of COVID interruptions — back on stage. John embarked on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in September 2018 – its milestone, multi-year itinerary comprising over 300 shows across five continents. Currently on the road in North America, John will perform his final concert on US soil at Los Angeles’ iconic Dodger Stadium on November 20th which will be included in a Disney+ documentary about his 50 year career.

With two rescheduled dates at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium on Friday, January 27th and Saturday, January 28, 2023, as a thank you to Aotearoa fans who’ve waited patiently for his return, John announces a final New Zealand show for Tuesday, January 24th at Orangetheory Stadium, Christchurch. It’s a fond farewell to a nation he first stepped foot in five decades ago.

With New Zealands plans already in place, it gave John the opportunity to add four additional encore farewell to an already sold out Australian run!

Newcastle is in for a truly special event when John takes to the stage for his very first show ever in the city, performing there on Tuesday, January 10th at McDonald Jones Stadium. He’ll then perform at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Friday, January 13th – Elton’s 56th concert in VIC. Sydney fans can catch him at Allianz Stadium on Wednesday, January 18th, his 86th concert in NSW and 75th in the city. Finally, Elton will make his AU curtain call at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, January 21st, his debut show at the venue and 36th QLD concert overall.

By the end of this tour, John will have played 233 concerts in Australia – the third most for any country outside the UK & US.

Tickets for all the concerts go on sale Monday, August 1st via Ticketmaster. Frontier Members can also access the Frontier Pre-sale, which starts Thursday, July 28th. Telstra Plus Members (AU) can also get exclusive access via the Telstra Plus Member pre-sale, which starts Tuesday, July 26th.

Elton’s love of Australia and New Zealand was on full display when the farewell when the tour first reached Australasia in November 2019, with a staggering 34 Australian and six New Zealand dates announced and over 705,000 tickets sold across a three-month period. Fans were treated to some of the most joyful and celebratory concerts John’s ever performed in the region, his hit laden set garnering rave reviews in both nations.

Wrapping up this leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road run next January, this will be Down Under fans’ very last chance to catch this legendary performer live on stage. If you missed out last time, or if once wasn’t enough, come along and say goodbye to this beloved performer. Tickets will go fast – don’t miss out on this unforgettable showman!
