Bice has a new patriotic song and Bob Seger cover

American Idol season four runner-up Bo Bice has new music set for 2024. The first is a gritty, rock-tinged bluegrass version of Bob Seger’s “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.” The song is the lead single from the forthcoming all-star bluegrass tribute to Seger, Silver Bullet Bluegrass, due this summer.

Seger released the song in 1968, the first of his many hits. For Bice to interpret this classic was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Well, coming from a rock background, I love Bob Seger. I love everything about him. I’ve seen him in concert. He’s amazing. This project really pays homage to Bob Seger in a way that is very unique being in the bluegrass genre,” Bice tells us exclusively. “It is something that is gonna blow your mind because of the unique arrangements. That’s when I wanted to get involved in this when I heard the arrangement that they came up with this project. It was just very, very cool to hear something from 1968 that we’ve all listened to over and over and we got burned in our memories to hear it done in a different way, is just really, really cool, and I feel blessed to be a part of it.”

Bice says fans can also expect to hear new original music from him, including the patriotic “Born of Heroes Blood,” due later this month.

“It’s an homage to all the ones that came before us that not only paid the ultimate price but paved the way for this beautiful country. It’s a very patriotic song,” he shares. “It was written by Jeff Silbar and Devin Powers, and [recorded] at Fame Studios there in Muscle Shoals. It has a whole whole lot of artists on there that are really gonna make the track shine and I think that people are gonna love it. It’s a patriotic song, so I really think that they’re gonna love it.”

Bice recently debuted the song live in Pennsylvania where the audience loved it.

“It was the first time that I got anyone to really give any feedback on the music on that end,” he adds. “It was really nice and we had a great audience that night as well. So it was a lot of fun.”

Fans can expect to hear both new songs live this summer.
