Show has script commitment at Fox

Fox has committed to a script for an untitled country music dynasty family drama with penalty. The project helms from writer Melissa London Hilfers, Sandbox Entertainment’s Jason Owen and Fox Entertainment-owned SideCar Content Accelerator with SideCar and Fox Entertainment co-producing the one hour series.

The untitled project is inspired by the Romanoff dynasty. The show is described as an “epic, multi-generational musical drama about America’s first family of country music,” according to Deadline.

In the series, the Romans divide their time between their home in Austin and Nashville for business. They’re passionate and fiercely talented, but while their name is synonymous with heartfelt honesty, the very foundation of this family’s success is a lie. When dangerous truths bubble to the surface, the Romans’ reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy leading to more lies, betrayal and murder.

Owen is co-president of Monument Records — an imprint of Sony Music Entertainment — and President/CEO of Sandbox Entertainment, which represents artists including Faith Hill, Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Dan + Shay, Midland, Kelsea Ballerini, Johnny Cash and others for management, marketing, creative and publicity. Owen has previously served as Executive Producer on Nashville’s first nationally syndicated talk show, Pickler & Ben, Showtime’s Tim & Faith: Soul2Soul documentary, The Cooking Channel’s Kimberly’s Simply Southern with Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman and ABC’s Shania: Still The One Live From Vegas special.

Hilfers is a New York-based screenwriter who is currently behind Jagged Edge at Sony with Halle Berry and Unfitat Amazon Studios with Dakota Johnson set to star.

No word on when production will begin or when the show will air.
