New song can be heard on The Big 615

Garth Brooks has quietly released a new song entitled “Only Country Music.” The global superstar launched his new TuneIn radio station, The Big 615, with the track on Thursday (June 15th), which was written by Brooks and top Nashville songwriters Ashley Gorley and Matt Rossi. Brooks says the track was recently conceived and recorded.

“In the middle of [beta testing the channel] as recently as three weeks ago, came an idea from Ashely Gorley sitting right down with Matt Rossi, and he says, ‘I want to write a song that just if you’re looking for something, hey, that’s only country music,'” Brooks shares on a special Thursday night edition of his Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G, with station host Storme Warren. “And he just started in and the first thing — he’s sitting right there on the couch 50 feet away from where we’re sitting, and he goes, ‘Where else can you say Jesus and Jack Daniels in one line?’ I said, ‘I’m in.’ So it’s really good, man, and only country music. I really enjoyed — I think the track’s screaming. It’s a lot of fun… When you hear it, you go, ‘Okay, that’s what it is. It’s country music.’ So I love it!'”

Brooks describes the song as feeling “traditional Garth” with harmony vocals provided by wife Trisha Yearwood.

“We had her doing both harmonies here because it was too high for me,” he shares. “I’m playing Vegas and I’m going, ‘You know what? Just get your ass back in the studio and reach those notes. Get after it.’ And so I came back in and now it feels more like the traditional Garth thing with her and I.”

Brooks adds the song can currently only be heard via the new channel.

“Here’s me being an old guy. Do we download anymore or just want to listen to it?” he asks. “We’ll talk to Amazon. Amazon’s always sweet to let radio have it for a little bit before they start [streaming] it, but you know if it’s Garth and somewhere, it is going to be on [Amazon] Alexa…If Amazon wants it right now, Amazon gets it because they’ve been so sweet to me and they have all of our music rights, but right now if you’re looking for, The Big 615.”

The Big 615 is the first in a series of Sevens Radio Network channels and features former SiriusXM and GAC-TV host Storme Warren as the official voice of the global station. From the Mind of Garth Brooks, The Big 615 offers listeners an authentic take on country music that offers up the biggest songs and the biggest artists today.

Sevens Radio is set to launch multiple stations on TuneIn this year, dedicated to country music and more, all curated and conceived by Brooks and the Sevens Radio Network, exclusively on TuneIn. Brooks unveiled the channel during a press conference in Nashville on June 15th, but made no mention of the track. Following the press conference, we asked him about premiering new music — most notably “Pleasure in the Pain” that’s he been performing during his Garth Brooks/Plus One Vegas residency — on the channel, but he was coy on when we could expect to hear any. He also let slip that one channel will feature all female artists.

Our interviews with Brooks and Warren from the launch event will be shared soon on The Music Universe Podcast and social media.
