Concert from legendary venue available July 23rd

Surfdog Records/Big Machine Records is set to release Glen Campbell – Live From the Troubadour on July 23rd. The set captures the country legend’s final performance from the storied venue on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip from August 19, 2008. A Grammy Lifetime Achievement honoree with three Grammy Hall of Fame awards for “Wichita Lineman,” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix” and “Gentle on My Mind,” the Arkansas-born musician thrilled the beyond capacity crowd with a mix of his hits and definition-expanding songs by his peers and contemporaries.

Performing a stunning mix of songs embedded in our DNA (“Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Galveston”) and unexpected jewels from Lou Reed (“Jesus”), Foo Fighters (“Times Like These”), Tom Petty (“Walls (Circus),” “Angel Dream”), Paul Westerberg (“Sadly Beautiful”) and Green Day (“Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”), Campbell is in fine voice and demonstrates on more than one song his dexterity, tone and emotional transparency on guitar. With a band that includes four of his children, session and live veterans from Beck, Jellyfish, Jane’s Addiction, Murphy’s Law, D Generation and Danzig, it was a night of music that explored the commonalities of genres, country-tinged arrangements and how good live music feels.

The set will be available on CD, 2 LP gatefold vinyl and digitally.

Campbell passed away from Alzheimer’s in August 2017 at the age of 81. In 2011, Campbell’s family bravely revealed his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and embarked on a final Goodbye Tour that was documented in the award-winning documentary I’ll Be Me.

His final album studio album, Adiós, was released two months earlier featuring songs that Campbell always loved but never got a chance to record, including several from Jimmy Webb, his longtime collaborator behind some of his biggest hits like “Wichita Lineman” “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” and “Galveston.” In addition to the bittersweet title track, “Adiós,” first popularized by Linda Ronstadt, Campbell also sings Webb’s longing love song “Just Like Always” and country weeper “It Won’t Bring Her Back.” He revisits “Postcard From Paris” with his sons Cal and Shannon and daughter Ashley singing the line, “I wish you were here,” resulting in a powerful and heartfelt message of a family singing together one last time.
