Allen files suit in Nashville court
Jimmie Allen is countersuing the women who have accused him sexual assault. The once rising country star denies all of the allegations and claims one of the women defamed him in an interview while the other illegally took his cell phone without his permission.
The 38 year old Allen filed the cases in Nashville federal court on Thursday (July 13th), according to Billboard, seeking unspecified monetary damages.
In May, Allen was sued by a member of his former day-to-day management team for sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, sex trafficking and emotional distress. The unnamed woman, who is suing under the moniker of Jane Doe, alleges that she was manipulated and groomed by Allen into a sexually abusive relationship that happened during an 18 month period from 2000-2022.
Allen acknowledged the affair and publicly apologized to his wife Alexis Gale after it was announced the pair were separating after nearly three years of marriage. They also shared that a new baby is on the way.
He is countersuing Jane Doe for “deliberate, intentional, malicious, and willful” statements to Variety, who broke news of her suit, beyond what’s included in her suit against him.
“Throughout the Variety article, Jane Doe made several untruthful statements which painted Allen and Doe’s consensual affair as nonconsensual sexual misconduct,” his lawyers claim. “Allen’s reputation and relationships within the entertainment industry have also been severely damaged as a result Jane Doe’s statements in the Variety article.”
Last month, Jane Doe 2 filed suit where she alleges the pair were involved in a long-distance conversation for two months before meeting in Las Vegas where she claims the assault occurred and was filmed sexually without her knowledge. The alleged victim flew home by herself where she filed a police report and turned the phone into authorities.
His response to the second suit accuses the woman of “conversion” after she explicitly consented to the recording and then took his phone as she left the hotel.
“By taking his camera phone without permission, Jane Doe 2 wrongfully exerted a distinct act of dominion over Allen’s personal property,” the suit states.
Allen says the claims are false and have cost him many business endeavors, including being dropped by his record label, publicity firm, and being removed from a variety of performance lineups.
“As the son and brother of rape victims, and the father of daughters, these false claims are extremely hurtful to me and everyone around me,” Allen tells Billboard. “These false allegations have caused me to lose a vast number of business and endorsement opportunities that I worked extremely hard for. These false allegations have also not only harmed me, but have caused severe financial damage to my band, my team, and their families.”
