Show will fund veterans’ charities

Joe Walsh has announced that VetsAid 2022 will feature sets from a newly reunited James Gang — Joe Walsh, Jimmy Fox and Dale Peters — for a final performance for “One Last Ride” with special guests Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys and The Breeders. The event takes place November 13th at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.

Walsh’s vision was to curate an all-Ohio bill for this year’s show. He considers Columbus to be his hometown, the James Gang and Nine Inch Nails hail originally from Cleveland, The Black Keys from Akron, The Breeders from Dayton and Dave Grohl is native to Warren, OH.

“It all started in Ohio,” Walsh reflects. “Picking up my first guitar as a kid in Columbus set me on a musical journey to Kent State, Cleveland and then the world. It is a great privilege for me to share the stage once again with my original James Gang buddies and this incredible group of Ohio rock legends like Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, The Breeders and Dave Grohl. I believe in Ohio and look forward to celebrating our musical legacy while honoring our veterans with VetsAid 2022.”

Tickets are available starting Wednesday, August 3rd via Ticketmaster.

All net proceeds will go directly to veterans’ services charities with ties to Ohio. Grant applications are open now at vetsaid.org/grants. Veterans are important to Walsh, a Gold Star son himself. His father, a flight instructor for the Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star — first US operational jet powered aircraft — died while on active duty on Okinawa when he was just 20 months old. Through the establishment of the VetsAid annual benefit concert, he aims to give back to those who have given so much in sacrifice for this country.

Joe Walsh launched VetsAid on September 20, 2017 with an inaugural concert at the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA. The second festival event was in Tacoma, WA and the third in Houston, TX. VetsAid typically seeks to host the events in cities across the country with large veteran populations. The shows have included performances by musicians including James Taylor, Chris Stapleton, Don Henley, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, The Doobie Brothers, Zac Brown Band, Jason Isbell, Keith Urban, Haim, Gary Clark Jr. and Joe’s brother-in-law Ringo.
