Album tops Current Rock Chart

Journey’s new album, Freedom, released last week via BMG, has debuted at No. 1 on the Current Rock chart. The group’s 15 track album also lands on a variety of other charts, including No. 2 Current Digital Album, No. 2 Digital Albums, No. 3 Current Album Sales, No. 3 Album Sales, No. 3 Internet Albums and No. 88 on the Billboard 200.

A vinyl version of the Freedom will be released August 26th.

The members of Journey celebrated the album’s release this weekend by kicking off a residency featuring special symphony orchestra performances at the new, state-of-the-art Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas. The residency continues this Friday, July 22nd and Saturday, July 23rd. Tickets for the special engagement are on sale now.

On July 4th, the group released “United We Stand” in honor of America’s Independence Day.

As the band’s legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, Freedom is the band’s first album of new material to be released in 11 years, since 2011’s Eclipse. The group emerged from the pandemic with a supercharged new studio line-up that includes guitarist Schon, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, vocalist Arnel Pineda, former American Idol judge Randy Jackson returning as bassist after 30 years, Narada Michael Walden as drummer and keyboardist/vocalist Jason Derlatka.

In May, the classic rockers had to postpone the remaining four Freedom Tour dates due to a member of the band testing positive for COVID-19. Four dates were affected but are planning to be rescheduled next year.
