Korean singer breaks many global records

BTS superstar Jung Kook’s new solo single “Seven” with Latto has broken several records globally on the Billboard, Spotify and iTunes charts. From the day it was released on July 13th via BigHit Music, Jung Kook became the first Korean solo artist to debut atop Spotify’s Daily Top Song Global Chart, and remained No. 1 for two days. “Seven” also debuted No. 1 on South Korea’s biggest streaming platform Melon’s Top 100 chart, dated July 15th, becoming the song by a male soloist to make such a feat within the shortest time since release in 2023.

The song has topped Billboard’s Hot 100, Global 200 and Global Excluding US charts, marking Kook as the first solo member of the group to achieve top status on the Global 200 and Global Excluding US charts. In addition, it is the second time this year that a member of BTS has hit No. 1 on the Hot 100, followed by Jimin earlier this year.

“Seven” continues to dominate on Spotify as it becomes the fastest song to surpass 100 million streams in Spotify history. It has also earned the biggest unfiltered first-week streams for a song in Spotify history and achieved the biggest Spotify streaming debut in 2023. “Seven” has also been named the third highest streaming debut in Spotify global chart history and the longest running No. 1 single by a K-pop act on the Spotify Global chart.

“Seven” earns the fastest song in history to reach No. 1 on iTunes in 100 countries, including the US. Kook is the first and only Korean solo artist to chart inside the top 10 on the Apple Music Global chart.

Within a week of its release, BigHit Music released seven different versions available as the “Seven (Weekday Version).”
