Southern gospel-inspired album features duets with Dolly Parton, Eddie Vedder, Brandi Carlile and more

Leslie Jordan has released “Farther Along” feat. Chris and Morgane Stapleton, the latest single off his star-studded duets album Company’s Comin’, due April 2nd via Platoon. Performing ten duets and five vignettes, Jordan is joined by special guests including Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Charlie Worsham, Dolly Parton, Eddie Vedder, Katie Pruitt, Tanya Tucker and TJ Osborne, as well as the album’s co-producers, Travis Howard and Danny Myrick. The new single is accompanied by a music video with behind-the-scenes studio footage.

“Chris and Morgane Stapleton are ‘staple’ treasures of the country music universe and this album would not have been complete without the sweet, appealing harmony of their voices,” says Jordan. “But, in addition to their voices, they bring the sweet, appealing presence of themselves, and I just love them.”

Company’s Comin’ reimagines traditional hymns with a playful mix of righteous gospel, classic country and vintage soul, making them universally relatable regardless of background or experience. The boundless effervescence in Leslie Jordan’s performance is perfectly matched by the spontaneous, ecstatic energy of his powerhouse backing band. Released last month, the debut single “Angel Band” feat. Brandi Carlile is fueled by the down-home warmth and sincerity that runs throughout the record. A feel-good collection all about love and trust, hope and faith, consolation and community, Company’s Comin’ is a debut album a lifetime in the making.

Raised Southern Baptist in East Tennessee, Leslie Jordan grew up surrounded by traditional southern hymns. “There was so much comfort in those old songs,” he says. “I’d sing them out loud with the congregation on Sunday mornings, and then softer to myself on the weekdays in between.” Though he later struggled with his relationship to the music of his childhood, Company’s Comin’ finds Jordan coming full circle on a journey in self-discovery and acceptance. “Singing these songs, it felt like I was recapturing the joy of what this music meant to me as a kid, but without all the baggage.” He continues, “When I was growing up, I wanted so badly to be a good Christian, but I knew that the church would never accept me for who I was. It’s liberating now to come back to these hymns, completely at peace with myself, and sing without any hint of the guilt or shame I felt in my youth.”

Originally known for his roles on Will and Grace and more recently Fox’s Call Me Kat, Emmy Award-winning actor Leslie Jordan has seen a surge in popularity on social media in the last year. His relatable, slice-of-life videos filmed during the pandemic and shared to Instagram have racked up millions of views and more than five million followers in a matter of months. In addition to his daily posts and the new album, Jordan is gearing up to release his new book titled “How Y’all Doin’” on April 29th. He also recently launched an Apple Music Country show hosted with collaborator/co-producer Travis Howard called Hunker Down Radio with Leslie Jordan, which airs every Sunday at 2 pm ET.
