Jordan released a country record in 2021

Actor and singer Leslie Jordan has died at the age of 67. TMZ was the first to report that the comedian passed away in a single car crash in Hollywood on Monday (Oct 24th) morning after likely suffering from a medical emergency. LAPD confirms Jordan’s BMW crashed into a wall at the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street around 9:45 am.

“The love and light that Leslie shared will never go out and we invite you to share their memories and comfort each other during this time,” a post on Jordan’s instagram page reads. “In the coming days we will be giving a glimpse of a project Leslie was really proud of and was looking forward to sharing with the world.”

Last year, Jordan released his debut album, Company’s Comin’, which featured duets with Dolly Parton, Eddie Vedder, Brandi Carlile, Chris & Morgane Stapleton, Ashley McBryde, Charlie Worsham, Katie Pruitt, Tanya Tucker and TJ Osborne, as well as co-producers, Travis Howard and Danny Myrick.

On Sunday (Oct 23rd), Jordan posted an Instagram video of he and Myrick singing the gospel hymn “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder” and teased a new song.

“Sunday Mornin’ Hymn Singin’ with @dannymyrick. Danny helped me with a new original song that should be comin’ out real soon. Love. Light. Leslie,” he shared.

Three weeks ago, he jokingly teased he wanted to release a “country/western version” of Ludacris’ “Move Bitch.” In the short clip, Jordan sang the first line of the song before the rapper himself appeared over his shoulder stating, “Whoa, no I don’t think that’s such a good idea, man. No no no. that’s a terrible actually, I mean no disrespect.”

Best known for his roles on Will and Grace and more recently Fox’s Call Me Kat, the Emmy Award-winning Jordan has seen a surge in popularity since his relatable, slice-of-life videos went viral on social media in 2020. He was well known for starting his videos with the catchphrase, “Well, shit!” during the lockdown.

Also in 2021, Jordan hosted the “Country” episode of PBS’s One Voice: The Songs We Share, and appeared as a guest panelist on Fox’s The Masked Singer. He also made his Grand Ole Opry debut, launched the Apple Music Country radio show Hunker Down Radio with Leslie Jordan, landed on The New York Times Best Seller list with his most recent book, How Y’all Doin’, and performed a special one-night-only show at the Ryman Auditorium featuring artists including Brothers Osborne, Fancy Hagood, Jimmie Allen, Teddy Swims, The War and Treaty and more. Last Christmas, he released a cover of “Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth” with celebrated actor/singer Cheyenne Jackson.

Jordan appeared on a 2004 episode of Reba and even appeared as a guest during the first season of her podcast, Living and Learning with Reba McEntire.
