Lizzo & Beck are named Keynote Speakers with Bareilles as a Featured Speaker

Lizzo, Beck and Sara Bareilles have been added as Keynote and Featured Speakers for the 36th edition of South By Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals. The festival offers the opportunity to connect entertainment, technology, and media professionals with emerging acts and established artists, all sharing in a career- and life changing experience. The first essential and international music event on the industry’s calendar, the SXSW Music Festival takes place March 14-20th in Austin, Texas.

Lizzo will be a Keynote Speaker in which she’ll discuss her new unscripted series, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, which premieres on Prime Video this spring. 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee and eight-time Grammy Award-winning artist Beck will also be a Keynote Speaker as well, although his role is unknown.

As a Featured Speaker, Bareilles will be a panelist as part of the women of critically-acclaimed comedy, Girls5eva, for a discussion about the series and what to look forward to in season two.

Previously announced Featured Speakers include Jason Isbell, Nile Rodgers and Linda Perry.

SXSW continues to plan for a hybrid event (in-person with online viewing and participation options). Recognizing that the COVID-19 landscape is changing rapidly, SXSW has updated its COVID-19 guidelines and will continue to coordinate with both the City of Austin and Austin Public Health on further guidance.

Featured Sessions include What’s Your Life’s Soundtrack? Music is one of a few things that can transport you back to a moment in time, a special memory, and a song would not be whole without the songwriter. In this session, founder and CEO of Hipgnosis Song Management, Merck Mercuriadis and GRAMMY-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist Nile Rodgers talk about where the songwriter currently sits in the economic equation and their mission to change the dynamics as to how songwriters are compensated in the future.

SXSW dedicates itself to helping creative people achieve their goals. Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, SXSW is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture. An essential destination for global professionals, the annual March event features sessions, music and comedy showcases, film screenings, exhibitions, professional development and a variety of networking opportunities. SXSW proves that the most unexpected discoveries happen when diverse topics and people come together.
