Four all new episodes kick off with rock icon Perry Farrell in January 2021

AXS TV presents four new episodes of the popular celebrity profile The Big Interview With Dan Rather during the month of January, as the series returns on Wednesday, January 6th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. Each episode was filmed remotely due to the pandemic, utilizing both Zoom and in-person camera teams, and puts the spotlight on candid conversations with entertainment icons and influencers as they open up about their legendary lives and acclaimed careers. After these initial four episodes are broadcast, more new episodes of The Big Interview will air in early spring.

The month opens on January 6th as Rather sits down with rock superstar Perry Farrell, the iconic front man of Jane’s Addiction and Porno For Pyros, whose lyrics have fueled unforgettable hits such as “Jane Says,” “Been Caught Stealing,” “Mountain Song,” and more. During the interview, Farrell reflects on his unique upbringing, coming of age in L.A., and the current state of alt-rock, and discusses the origins of Lollapalooza, his father’s ties to the mob, and how spirituality and religion have impacted his life.

Rather welcomes one of country music’s fastest-rising stars to The Big Interview, as record-breaking artist Luke Combs chats about his whirlwind success spurred by the smash-hit single “Hurricane” on January 13th. The episode captures Combs looking back on the road that led him from a bar bouncer to selling out venues across the globe as he discusses his great love for music, recalls the creative process behind “Hurricane,” and gets personal about his struggle with anxiety, before performing a clip from “Hurricane” live.

Then, on January 20th, Rather is joined by Oscar-winning actress Regina King, fresh off her career-defining role in Watchmen which recently earned the star her fourth Emmy. Throughout the night, King opens up about her deeply personal directorial debut, One Night In Miami; the heroes who inspire her; and how race has affected her work; discusses her experience filming Seven Seconds, which she considers her most difficult role; and shares how she and her son have been spending time together during quarantine.

The month comes to a close with a moving conversation with celebrated country music legend Randy Travis on January 27th, seven years after the stroke that left an indelible mark on both his life and career. Together with his wife, Mary, Travis explains his road to recovery and the fight to regain his mobility, speech, and singing; and takes viewers through his powerful performance of “Amazing Grace” at the 2016 Country Hall Of Fame induction ceremony; and the couple reflects on their incredible love story and the pivotal moment in the hospital when Mary knew her husband was ready to keep fighting for his life.
