The singer-songwriter testifies to crime of passion on lethal new single

Rising singer/songwriter Mae Estes atones for murder with an act of community service, releasing the video for her newest song, “Gettin’ Back Up To Heaven” via Big Machine Records. The good girl-gone-bad, revenge-seeking tale of a preacher’s daughter-turned-murderer was released amid a busy CMA Fest for Estes and features thick banjo, twangy fiddle, lyrical twists and turns, and deadly vocals from the AIMP 2024 Rising Songwriter-Artist of the Year winner.

Written by Estes, Paul Sikes (producer) and Justin Wilson, “Gettin’ Back Up To Heaven” highlights Big Machine Records’ hot newcomer’s love of traditional Country music and knack for telling an impassioned, sinister story—harkening back to classics like “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia,” “Whiskey Lullaby,” or that beloved mysterious third verse of “The Thunder Rolls.”

“Gettin’ Back Up To Heaven” is the second taste of new music from the midwestern native, who recently released the fast-paced, barnburner “What I Shoulda Done.”

In addition to working on new music being on the road with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Gary Allan and Dierks Bentley Mae will open for Lainey Wilson at the National Rodeo Finals.

Hope, Arkansas native, Mae Estes, has been paying dues in Music City for over nine years now. Working up to three jobs at a time during her first few years in town, she’s stacked with stories to tell. In 2020, Estes signed her first publishing deal with Plaid Flag Music, with advisement from Kobalt Music. She’s since racked up more than 13 million streams across platforms and over one million views on YouTube, independently and organically building a quickly-growing fan base. In 2022, “Thinkin’ Bout Cheatin’” became the first release from her debut EP as well as her first music video feature on CMT. That same year, Mae was honored with Arkansas CMA Female Vocalist of the Year for the second time in her home state.
