Fans can submit their videos to be considered

Metallica has teamed with Universal Music Group’s Mercury Studios to produce a documentary about its “superfans.” Mercury Studios has put out an open casting call for those who want to be considered for the feature.

The filmmakers are looking for “big personalities, unique characters and unexpected stories from Metallica fans who consider Metallica to be their favorite band, real ‘Fifth Member’ types. All stories and walks of life are welcome and encouraged to reach out.”

“We’re looking for the broadest range of different kinds of fans for this. We want to show the vast influence Metallica has had on the world!” they share.

No other details are available as of press time. It’s unclear when the documentary will be released.

Metallica is currently in the midst of their M72 World Tour that sees the band playing two nights in every city it visits with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The trek will play 44 shows in 22 cities around the world and feature Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Architects, Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills and Greta Van Fleet at select stops.

The M72 tour features a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage so that fans will have a complete 360 view of the show. With a state-of-the-art multi-camera set up, you will feel like you’re right in the middle of the action, no matter where you are in the world.

Next month, fans can see Metallica: M72 World Tour Live From Arlington, TX – A Two Night Event, in cinemas worldwide. The unprecedented global theatrical event brings the band’s two shows from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX to the big screen live in cinemas on Friday, August 18th and Sunday, August 20th.

Metallica’s 72 Seasons was released April 14th via the band’s own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield and Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track 72 Seasons is Metallica’s first full length collection of new material since 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.
