Event is this weekend in Philadelphia

Mickey Guyton will no longer be performing at The Roots Picnic this weekend after testing positive for COVID. The country singer expressed her disappointment on Thursday (June 2nd).

“After 2 1/2 years of dodging this virus, COVID has finally hit my doorstep,” she shares. “I was SO looking forward to playing the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on Saturday, but unfortunately, I’ve tested positive for COVID. It’s going to be such an amazing weekend and I can’t believe I have to miss it. Hope to make it back soon, but until then, stay well!”

For the first time in-person since 2019, the annual festival headlined, hosted, and curated by the GRAMMY Award-winning multi-Platinum hip hop luminaries will take over the Mann at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, PA, for two days of music, art, and culture on Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5th.

The bill includes Mary J Blige teaming with The Roots for a one-of-a-kind set with performances by Summer Walker, Wizkid, Kirk Franklin, Jazmine Sullivan, J Period Live Mixtape featuring Black Thought, Rick Ross, G Herbo, Muni Long, and more.

YouTube will serve as the exclusive host for the festival. It will stream live on the group’s Official YouTube Channel.

The fate of Guyton’s performance as part of Spotify House at CMA Fest next weekend is unknown. She’s slated to perform on Saturday, June 11th at Downtown Nashville’s Ole Red.

This morning, Guyton was announced as a performer for 2022 Juneteenth Celebration at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl on June 19th. That event includes The Roots, Billy Porter, Earth Wind & Fire and others that will air on CNN.

CMT has also announced CMT Crossroads: Black Pumas & Mickey Guyton will premiere on Wednesday, June 15th at 10 pm ET/PT exclusively on CMT.
