New shows are June 2-3, 2023

Pantera has announced two new German shows in the wake of being removed from Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park this summer due to frontman Philip Anselmo made a Nazi-style salute and screaming “white power” during a 2016 Dimebash event in Hollywood.

The new shows are June 2nd at Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart and June 3rd at Messe Dresden in Dresden.

Last month, the band was removed from the festivals after the German Green Party for the Nuremberg City Council released a statement asking that organizers remove the band for “stirring up anti-racist and anti-fascist circles.”

A day later, the group was also nixed from Vienna, Austria’s Gasometer. While there was no explanation as to why the performance was canceled, the Green party in Vienna demanded the band be removed from the lineup due to the incident.

Following the onstage mishap, Anselmo apologized, stating he made an “off-color joke” about drinking white wine backstage and made the comment and gesture to audience members taunting him.

The reformed group featuring original members Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown joined by guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante paying homage to the late Abbott Brothers who founded the band in the 1980s, will play their first European shows in 22 years this summer as they headline Tons of Rock 2023, Finland’s three day Rockfest and 2023 Sweden Rock Festival.

The group also recently announced multiple North American festival dates, a tour with Lamb of God, and support for Metallica on their M72 Tour running through 2024.
