The rap star continues to teases a country album
Post Malone has released a teaser video of himself in the studio performing Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places.” The hip-hop star is seen singing and playing acoustic guitar in what appears to be a recording session. The clip shows Malone working to find the right key and notes of the chorus to the 34-year-old track.
“Think I’ll slip on down to the oasis,” Malone captions with no further details.
The Syracuse, New York native has been dropping hints about a potential country project for a while. Malone made his CMA Awards debut in November where he performed “John Deere Green” and “Pickup Man” with Hardy and Morgan Wallen in a tribute to Joe Diffie. Both songs are included in the third installment of Hardy’s Hixtape series, Difftape, which was released last month.
Earlier this year, he performed a country version of “America The Beautiful” at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. While on tour in March, he paid homage to Toby Keith, performing the chorus to “Good As I Once Was” following his passing from stomach cancer in early February. “Rest in peace to Toby Keith, ladies and gentlemen,” he said following applause.
On March 20th, Malone released a teaser for a country duet with Morgan Wallen that’s racked up nearly seven million views. He also released a teaser video last month that features Luke Combs called “Missin’ You Like This.”
Last week, Malone made his Ryman Auditorium debut performing an acoustic cover of Hank Williams’ “Honky Tonk Blues.” He was also a featured guest on Beyonce’s record-breaking Cowboy Carter country album, released last month.
In 2019, he made headlines as he was captured dancing along to Shania Twain performing “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” at the 2019 American Music Awards. The clip caught the attention of the Queen of Country Pop herself, writing on Twitter/X, “Awesome! I’m so glad I got to see this! Post Malone’s got moves.”
Details about the project are under wraps, but fans are hoping the project drops soon.
