“And So It Went” was inspired by the nation’s civil unrest

The Pretty Reckless has released “And So It Went” as its next single. The track features Tom Morello and appears on the group’s forthcoming Death By Rock And Roll, due February 12th via the band’s new label Fearless Records.

“The world has been in such a state of civil unrest, ‘And So It Went’ basically comes from that vision,” frontwoman Taylor Momsen says. “When the youth have finally had enough and rise up. As a songwriter, I feel like I’m not here to preach, I use music to observe and communicate what I see around me. This song felt like the perfect storm for Tom Morello to join in and rip the sound waves apart with his guitar. It was more than a pleasure having him add his unique and defining sound to the song.”

The Pretty Reckless’ new album Death By Rock And Roll is their most ambitious release yet. It was written and completed through the heartbreaking losses of Chris Cornell, who was one of Momsen’s musical muses, and of longtime collaborator Kato Khandwala. The titular single became their fifth No. 1 at Active Rock radio, a first for a female-fronted group.

The album also features “25” and “Only Love Can Save Me Now” with Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil.
