Rooney was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days

Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney has pled guilty to charges stemming from a September 2021 DUI arrest. The country star was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days for the Class A misdemeanor, but will only serve two days in jail for the first time offense. The remaining 11 months and 27 days will be suspended, according to the Tennessean.

Rooney will also lose his driver license, but can apply for a restrictive license with a built-in breathalyzer test. He must complete DUI training and surrender by 3 pm on June 8th to serve his 48 hour sentence.

Rooney was arrested on September 9, 2021 and charged with driving under the influence near Nashville. The sheriff’s department reports that Rooney crashed into a tree north of Franklin at around 4 am.
