Music has surged since star was announced as performer

Rihanna’s performance as headliner of Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show on February 12th drew an average of 118.7 million viewers across Fox and Fox Deportes networks and Fox and NFL digital outlets. The superstar’s nearly 14 minute career-defining performance was the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime Show since Katy Perry’s in 2015 and second most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance on record.

The set saw the R&B star make her triumphant return to the stage with her first solo performance in seven years. Her overall Spotify streams surged more than 640% across the United States between February 5th and the Halftime performance, Variety reports. However, “Umbrella,” “We Found Love” and “Love on the Brain” all crossed the billion stream mark on the platform within the past few months after being announced as the halftime show performer in September.

February 12th also became her biggest day on Apple Music and Shazam. Rihanna’s concurrent global listeners rose 331% on Apple Music. The hour following the performance became her biggest in Apple Music history with concurrent streams, surpassing last year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent.

The song recognition app Shazam cited 8:31 pm ET as the most-Shazamed minute of the show and “We Found Love” as the most-searched song from the performance. She is currently sits as the top seventh artist overall on this week’s Shazam US chart.

Rihanna’s 2007 smash “Umbrella” returned to the charts in 105 countries with “We Found Love” charting in 92 and “Work” re-entering the charts in more than 50 countries.

The Big Game itself — which saw the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 — drew an average audience of 113 million across television and digital properties, representing the second most-watched non-overtime Super Bowl on record and the second most-watched program in FOX Sports history.
