Hunt was indicted from 2019

Sam Hunt has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from his 2019 arrest in Nashville. The Tennessean reports that the country singer pleaded guilty to two counts of DUI and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in jail. However, Hunt will only serve 48 hours in an alternative sentencing facility, complete an alcohol safety course, lose his license for a year and is required to have an interlock installed in his vehicle when his license is reinstated.

Hunt appeared in court via video conferencing from his Nashville home. He faced more than two years in prison had he gone to trial.

In December, a Davidson County grand jury indicted the 36 year old singer on charges of first-offense DUI, another DUI charge and open container violation. The open container charge was dropped as part of the plea on Wednesday (Aug 18th).

Hunt was arrested in November 2019 after he was spotted driving in the wrong direction on Nashville’s Ellington Parkway. The police report says Hunt crossed the center divide several times and failed a sobriety test as he allegedly showed numerous signs of impairment on each test given. He also struggled to show cops his ID as it was openly sitting on his lap.

Hunt’s current single, “Wishful Drinking” with Ingrid Andress, is currently at No. 40 on the Billboard Country charts.
