Fans can stream an exclusive tribute channel

SiriusXM is remembering Vicente Fernández, the “King of Rancheras,” with an exclusive three-day limited-run tribute channel. Vicente Fernández Radio will stream to Platinum subscribers from December 28th through December 30th on the SiriusXM app and online.

The channel will play five decades of El Rey’s timeless music, as well as songs by Alejandro Fernández, Ana Gabriel, Javier Solís, Vikki Carr, Roberto Carlos and more music icons. Throughout the run, Fernández’s fellow artists will also share their memories about the legendary Mexican charro.

Earlier this month, regional Mexican legend and cultural icon Vicente “Chente” Fernández has passed away at the age of 81. The mariachi singer was hospitalized in August after suffering a fall at his home when he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that causes muscle weakness.

For more than 60 years, the singer, producer and actor brought the musical traditions of his beloved country to audiences worldwide through his amazing performances and his gifted voice, which featured impressive operatic power and range. Fernández’s discography comprises more than 100 albums with dozens of Latin GRAMMYs and GRAMMYs received throughout his career. In 2002, he was recognized as the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.

His final album, A Mis 80’s, recently won a Latin GRAMMY under the category Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album. It’s currently nominated for the 64th GRAMMY Awards under the category of Best Regional Mexican Music Album (including Tejano).
