Taylor Swift makes Billboard history

Folklore continues a massive debut

Taylor Swift’s spectacular run last week continues this week with Billboard’s Hot 100 chart announcement. Folklore, her five star album, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week and her single “Cardigan” lands at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making her the only artist in history to simultaneously debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100. No artist in the history of Billboard’s charts has ever debuted at both top spots, 200 chart and No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart.

With all 16 songs from the project charting on Billboard Hot 100, Taylor Swift becomes the female artist with the most simultaneous debut entries. Taylor is the first artist ever to debut three songs in the Hot 100’s top six spots in a single week and is the first woman to debut two songs in the top five simultaneously with “Cardigan” at No. 1 and “The 1” at No. 4. In addition, Swift set a new record as the female artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100, with 113 entries.
