Video was captured of the incident

Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello was accidentally tackled by a security guard during a performance in Toronto on Saturday night (July 23rd). The band was performing its final song, “Killing In The Name,” when a fan in a red shirt rushed the stage.

In a video capturing the incident, a security guard can be seen chasing after the fan when he accidentally knocks Morello off stage with his guitar in hand as the fan rushes past Morello and jumps into the crowd.

Vocalist Zach de la Rocha, who was sitting center stage after injuring his leg on July 11th, stops the show, saying “Hold up!” about a dozen times until the music stops. With the help of security, Morello quickly gets us and pumps his chest to the crowd.

“Do not rush the stage,” de la Rocha says. “Do not try that shit. Sorry. We’re cool. We love ya’ll, but don’t do that.”

It appears Morello was not hurt during the incident. Additional security guards nabbed the fan.

The band restarted the song and ended the concert without further incident.

Rage is currently on the Public Service Announcement Tour, which kicked off July 9th in East Troy, WI. The long-delayed trek was postponed due to the pandemic with dates now scheduled through April 2023.
