Yearwood will receive the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award & debut self-penned song

Country icon Trisha Yearwood is set to receive the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award and perform live at the 2024 CMT Music Awards, airing from Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sunday, April 7th from 8-11 pm ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Inspired by country pioneer June Carter Cash, the award recognizes an artist, duo/group or industry veteran who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to the community and their fellow artists, embodying June’s spirit as a fierce advocate and initiator in paying it forward, helping others find their voice and using their platform to inspire and uplift others.

Yearwood will be recognized with the honor in-show and also perform a can’t-miss world premiere performance of “Put It In A Song,” the first release from her forthcoming album. This album signifies a significant milestone in her illustrious career, as it features a collection of songs co-written by Yearwood. This marks Trisha’s first appearance on the CMT stage since 2019.

“We are thrilled to honor the incomparable Trisha Yearwood with the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at this year’s show. Trisha has a unique ability to rally a community, whether that may be families in need with Habitat for Humanity, or uplifting her fellow artists and entertainers trying to carve a path in the industry. She embodies the bold strength of June, who tirelessly devoted herself to service and community, and the namesake for this award. Both multi-hyphenate trailblazers eloquently crafted a script for others to model, letting their hearts and authenticity guide their personal, professional and public lives,” shares CMT Music Awards Executive Producers.

Yearwood’s extensive philanthropy includes her long-standing work with Habitat for Humanity over the past two decades, including the Carter Work Project and National Women Build Week. She was named a Habitat Humanitarian in 2016 with her husband Garth Brooks.

Additionally, her charitable involvement extends to establishing Dottie’s Yard to help animal rescues, Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Grammy Foundation MusiCares, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, Starkey Hearing Foundation, Susan B. Komen Foundation, among many others.

The three-time Grammy winner is a steadfast mentor and champion of her fellow female artists – past, present and future – leading the Five Decades, One Voice initiative and working closely with the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum where she serves as a guardian and trusted legacy keeper, protecting country music’s heritage and ensuring the voice of her predecessors don’t fade in the background.

Additional performers include Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Jordan Davis, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Needtobreath, and Sam Hunt. Kelsea Ballerini will host and perform.

Top nominees Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney split the lead with three nominations apiece.

General voting is now open at vote.cmt.com through April 1st. Voting for the highly-coveted “Video of the Year,” presented by Hilton, remains active in show.

An all-star lineup of programming featuring Hardy, Little Big Town, Nickelback, and more begins Friday, April 5th on CMT.
