The drummer passed away on June 22nd

Former Pantera and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott’s cause of death has been revealed. Abbott died of natural causes from an enlarged heart and heart disease. His estate addresses the findings.

“Vincent Paul Abbott died from natural causes, specifically, dilated cardiomyopathy. Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death according to the official report submitted by the Clark County Coroner’s office,” his Facebook page states.

No further statement will be issued regarding the famed drummer’s death.

Abbott died in his sleep unexpectedly on June 22nd at the age of 54. Abbott was buried next to his mother and brother, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, who died after being shot on stage with Damageplan in Ohio in 2004. Both Abbott brothers were buried in Kiss caskets.

The surviving members of Pantera held a public memorial for the drummer on July 1st at 3:33 pm, the time of day Abbott referred to as “Dime Time” after losing his brother. A private memorial was held the day before.

Shortly before his death, Vinnie Paul had wrapped tracking drums for a new Hellyeah album. No word on the fate of that project.
