“Cowboy Kid” is available now

Off the heels of his powerful single release “Lovin’ Not Leavin’,” Texas Male Vocalist of the Year Wade Bowen is back with another poignantly crafted track “Cowboy Kid.” The singer-songwriter pulled from his childhood memories and core values that were instilled in him to create the fun, up-tempo, sentimental song and accompanying official video.

Produced by Wade and co-written alongside Grammy Award-winning songwriter Casey Beathard (Eric Church, Kenny Chesney), “Cowboy Kid” was inspired by Bowen’s childhood growing up in Texas and being encouraged to chase his larger-than-life dreams, such as being a cap gun cowboy or following in the footsteps of the Jesse James and John Waynes. The chorus sings, “It’s finally all adding up, Oh I am who I am because of that cap gun cowboy kid I was,” highlighting how running free and being a dreamer helped shape who he is today as a father, husband, musician, and beyond.

“As a kid I was a big dreamer and this song is about carrying those dreams into adulthood,” Bowen shares. “I feel like most people start to lose sight or give up on them as they get older. I see the same thing happening in my own kids now as they get ready to move into adulthood, and I want them to know it’s ok to have crazy dreams… and I want them to have the courage to chase them. They just might come true.”

The nostalgic official video brings the song’s sentiment and depth to life through snapshots of Wade as a child riding horses and playing the guitar to then showing recent performance footage of Wade as he lives out his childhood dream. Alongside these snippets of Wade, the video also features photos of his own children throughout their younger years, bringing it all full circle.

Up next, Wade will be working on his forthcoming album, expected in early 2024.

In addition to music, Wade is also passionate about giving back to the community through his Bowen Family Foundation, which has raised more than $6 million to-date. At the end of August, the singer-songwriter hosted his annual invite-only Bowen Invitational golf tournament, which raised nearly $1 million for the Bowen Family Foundation. The tournament was a lot of golf, with a little bit of music too, featuring performances by Robert Earl Keen, among others.

With more than four thousand shows under his belt, Wade is currently in the midst of a tour to round out the year. Stops include Belville, TX tonight (Fri, Oct 13th), Rockdale, TX tomorrow with shows through December 8th.
