Accident happened at the end of the concert

A woman fell to her death from an escalator at the end of Kenny Chesney’s concert at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on Saturday (July 30th) night. The Denver Post reports that the woman was sitting on an escalator railing when she fell to the concourse below and died due to her injuries. The incident happened at 10:52 pm and police announced her death just after 11 pm.

Police are investigating the incident as accidental and describe the woman as an “adult female guest” of the stadium. It’s unknown at this time if alcohol played a factor, but after speaking with eyewitnesses, police spokesman Nate Magee doesn’t believe the woman was pushed or bumped before she fell.

“To my understanding there was none of that, it was just an accidental fall, I don’t think anyone pushed her or anything like that,” Magee says.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident that occurred at the end of Saturday’s concert at Empower Field at Mile High,” Empower Field shared in a statement on Sunday (July 31st). “There is nothing more important than the safety of our guests, and Stadium Management Company is in communication with the Denver Police Department as it investigates this unfortunate situation.”

Neither the woman’s age nor identity have been revealed as of press time. It’s also unclear how she fell or whether she died at the stadium or at a hospital.

Chesney has also addressed the tragedy.

“I was devastated to learn of the loss of someone after our show. There had been so much joy, so much heart coming from the people of Denver last night — and to hear this is heartbreaking,” he says. “Life is precious. Sharing music brings us together and that love we share makes us so much more. For the lady who came to share that love, there are no words. For her friends and family’s loss, I grieve with them and for them.”

Chesney’s Here And Now Tour 2022 continues August 6th in Minneapolis. Presented by Blue Chair Bay and fueled by Marathon, the trek includes support from Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay and Old Dominion. The trek wraps with a two night stand at Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium on August 26-27th.
