Song will be released next week

The Elton John and Britney Spears “Tiny Dancer” remake has a release date. The song, now titled “Hold Me Closer,” will be released on Friday, August 26th, one week later than initially scheduled. There’s no confirmation as to why the single was pushed back, but some internet users have reported hearing the track.

New artwork was sent to the press that features child pictures of each over a light pink background. Both of their names grace the top of artwork with “Hold Me Closer” centered on the bottom. A pre-save link was also sent.

A duet between the pair was rumored last month as a re-recording of John’s hit “Tiny Dancer.” “Hold me closer” are the first three words of the chorus of “Tiny Dancer,” but it’s unclear as to why the track was renamed.

The song would be Spears’ first in a number of years and since her nearly 14 year conservatorship was canceled in November 2021.

“Hold Me Closer” follows a series of duets John has released with pop stars. Last year, he released the collaborative album, The Lockdown Sessions, that were recorded remotely during the pandemic with Dua Lipa, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Puth and others. He also recently teamed with Yard Act for “100% Endurance.”

John is set to perform his last US concert this fall when he headlines three shows at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in November. John embarked on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in September 2018 – its milestone, multi-year itinerary comprising over 300 shows across five continents. Currently on the road in North America, the final concert in the States will be the subject of a Disney+ documentary about his 50 year career.
