Sequel is currently in pre-production

Lady Gaga may be the next Harley Quinn if discussions go her way. Deadline reports that the pop star and actress is in early talks to play the Arkham Asylum shrink who falls in love with the title character in Joker: Folie à Deux. She would star opposite of Joaquin Phoenix, who is in “advanced talks” to return to the new Warner Bros. franchise.

The upcoming sequel to the 2019 film that grossed $1 billion worldwide sees Todd Phillips returning as director and co-writer with Scott Silver. Plot details are unknown as of press time.

Gaga is no stranger to the film world. Her breakout role was in the 2018 Warner Bros. musical drama, A Star Is Bornwith Bradley Cooper that earned Gaga an Academy Award, four GRAMMYs, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and Critics’ Choice Award. She most recently portrayed Patrizia Reggiani in MGM and United Artist Releasing’s House of Gucci.

Her latest film contribution is “Hold My Hand” to the Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. Produced by Gaga and BloodPop with additional production by Benjamin Rice, the track was written for and featured throughout the film. The motion picture version of “Hold My Hand” features additional production and score by Loren Balfe and Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer.

Lady Gaga launches her highly anticipated The Chromatica Ball global stadium tour this summer. The 20 show tour kicks off July 17th in Düsseldorf, Germany and promises to be a full-scale, Lady Gaga pop show that includes the first-ever live performances of songs from the No. 1 selling, critically acclaimed, and GRAMMY-winning 2020 album Chromatica and “Hold My Hand.”

International dates include Stockholm, Paris, Arnheim, London and Toronto before a North American launch on August 8th in Washington, DC. Shows are currently scheduled through September 17th with stops in Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami and others.
