I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it — the eagerly awaited new album from UK quartet The 1975 — has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, bowing with 108,000 album equivalent units. The album also sits atop the album charts in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The Manchester four-piece join the esteemed ranks of The Beatles, Radiohead and David Bowie, amongst others, who all simultaneously debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Official U.K. Albums Chart. Their self-titled debut album, certified Gold in the US, also entered the UK charts at No. 1 and went on to sell one million copies worldwide.

The 1975 kicked off the album’s release week with an Apple Music live concert from a rooftop in downtown Los Angeles and with an exclusive interview for Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio. Apple Music users can watch both. In addition, a collective 5,000 fans turned up at pop-up events in New York City and London to meet the band. The London pop-up was collaboration between The 1975, art director Samuel Burgess Johnson, and Tumblr for an IRL event. For the New York pop up, Instagram’s @Music gave fans a behind-the-scenes look. The 1975 recently performed on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
