Two organizations celebrate Women’s History Month

Amazon Music and She Is The Music (SITM) have announced GROUP THREAD: Not Pictured, a new weekly roundtable series on Twitch that shines a light on women breaking down barriers in the industry and inspiring the next generation. Hosted by music journalist and pop culture expert, Sowmya Krishnamurthy, the live conversations will air every Friday in March, streaming globally on the Amazon Music Twitch channel and in the Amazon Music app.

GROUP THREAD: Not Pictured begins Friday, March 5th at 1 pm ET/10 am PT with Krishnamurthy leading an intimate conversation with St. Vincent and She Is The Music founding board member and Partner and Co-Head Of Worldwide Music for UTA Samantha Kirby Yoh to reveal new details about the multi-GRAMMY award winner’s single, “Pay Your Way In Pain,” and her new album coming soon. They will also dive into essential roles behind the scenes and how to get more women into fields such as audio engineering, songwriting and more.

SITM founding member Alicia Keys and fellow co-founder and engineer, Ann Minicelli, will join Krishnamurthy for a discussion later this month. Following the March 5th premiere, all subsequent episodes for GROUP THREAD: Not Pictured will take place 5 pm ET/2 pm PT on Fridays in March via the Amazon Music Twitch channel. Additional episode details will be revealed soon.

Amazon Music has also released new playlists and content to celebrate female musicians whose work often goes unrecognized, despite their lasting impact on music and culture. Its global catalog music brand, [RE]DISCOVER, has launched a host of new playlists to highlight iconic female artists who made an indelible mark on the music we know and love today. Each week, customers will find themed playlists for provocateurs, boundary pushers, storytellers, vocalists and more, featuring artists such as Billie Holiday, Loretta Lynn, Carole King, Gloria Estefan and Tina Turner.

This month, customers can also find new Amazon Original songs only available on Amazon Music from a variety of inspiring artists, such as: indie-pop duo Sylvan Esso with a reimagined version of their track “HSKT;” vocalist and guitarist, Brittany Howard’s rousing cover of “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” by Jackie Wilson (March 8th); and singer-songwriter, Alex Lahey’s take on Faith Hill’s, “This Kiss” (March 19th).

To honor the new female artists breaking new ground, customers can check out the “The New Trailblazers” playlist, shining a light on the next generation of creators who defy musical expectations including Olivia Rodrigo, Mahalia, and Brittney Spencer.
Hall of Femme: A cross-genre playlist filled with rule breakers, game changers, and power players in music. “Hall of Femme” features a central list of the female music icons that define generations from yesterday and today, including Mariah Carey, Rihanna, and Stevie Nicks.

Join TOKiMONSTA, Tygapaw, REZZ and more on International Women’s Day (March 8th) as they discuss their experiences as top artists in the EDM space followed by a viewing of their new film, Underplayed, at 9 pm ET only on the Amazon Music Twitch channel. UNDERPLAYED explores gender disparity in the genre, and shares the stories of TOKiMONSTA, Tygapaw, REZZ, NERVO, Alison Wonderland, and many more as they navigate their way through a male dominated industry. Beginning March 8th, Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Music HD subscribers will also be able to watch the film in the Amazon Music mobile app for a limited time, as well as on Amazon Prime Video at no additional cost to Prime members.
