The residency concludes in July 2024

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. and legendary musician and MSG franchise Billy Joel have announced that the final show of Joel’s sold-out record-breaking residency at The World’s Most Famous Arena will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2024, marking Joel’s 150th-lifetime show at the venue. Joel’s MSG shows have redefined the concept of residency. The scope and ambition of Joel’s residency, where he has played once a month at Madison Square Garden, is unprecedented.

Citi cardmembers will have first access to presale tickets for the July 25th show from Monday, November 6th at 10 am through Thursday, November 9th at 10 pm ET. Tickets will be available for purchase by the general public at 10 am ET on Friday, November 10th via Ticketmaster. Due to congestion during the on-sale, it can be difficult to purchase tickets right away. Please continue to check Ticketmaster as tickets will be available throughout the day.

Joel’s history with Madison Square Garden began with his first performance at The World’s Most Famous Arena on December 14, 1978. In 2006, with 12 consecutive performances, Joel set the record for “most consecutive performances by any artist.” To commemorate the historic moment, a banner stating “Joel – 12” was raised to The Garden rafters, making him the first entertainer in the venue’s history to accomplish this feat.

In December 2013, Joel was named Madison Square Garden’s first-ever music franchise, joining the ranks of the storied venue’s other original franchises – the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. The record-breaking residency began in January 2014 with Joel playing one show every month at The Garden for, as Joel said at the time, “as long as the demand continues.” In January 2015, Joel broke his own record of the “most consecutive performances by any artist” with the 13th show of the residency and a new banner was raised to The Garden’s rafters. In July 2015, with his 65th lifetime show, Joel broke another record for the “most lifetime performances by any artist,” for which another banner was raised. Both of Joel’s banners continue to hang at The Garden and are replaced each month with each performance.

Joel is currently co-headlining a handful of stadium dates with Stevie Nicks with performances in Minneapolis on November 10th, Phoenix on December 8th and Arlington, TX on March 9th. Next year will see The Entertainer team with Sting for joint headlining shows in Tampa, FL and San Diego, CA.

Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings will release The Vinyl Collection, Vol. 2 on November 3rd, continuing an ongoing celebration of the legendary artist’s 50-plus years of musical magic, on-stage and in the studio. The 11 LP deluxe box set completes the definitive Billy Joel 12-inch vinyl album project which began with The Vinyl Collection, Vol. 1, a 9 LP set released in November 2021 in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Joel’s debut solo album, Cold Spring Harbor, originally released November 1, 1971.

This fall, fans have a chance for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Joel’s life-spanning career from his roots in Hicksville/Levittown, New York through his albums, tours, inspirations, and personal experiences with the first-ever Billy Joel exhibit at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF). Billy Joel – My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey will showcase over 50 years of Joel’s most cherished items including rare memorabilia, behind-the-scenes video, dozens of awards, rare audio and video recordings, vintage instruments, and historic photos, many donated by Billy Joel and never seen before in public.

On New Year’s Eve, New York’s quintessential son is back in his hometown on Long Island and will perform for the first time at the new state-of-the-art UBS Arena at Belmont. Joel will be helping Long Islanders ring in the New Year beginning at 9:30 pm marking his first concert on Long Island since 2018.

Joel will perform his first concert in Japan in 16 years on January 24, 2024. The Piano Man will play a concert at the Tokyo Dome for a one-night-only event, marking his 12th stop to the country since 1978.
