“Butter” conquers the chart for sixth straight weeks

BTS’ summer tune “Butter” tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the sixth consecutive week. According to MRC Data, “Butter” amassed 28.3 million radio airplay audience impressions, up by two percent the previous week. The K-pop superstars continue to dominate the music scene with their longest reigning No. 1 song to date.

“Butter” is also the second longest reigning song from its debut by a group in the chart’s history. The track is the band’s fourth chart-topping single in less than a year, and secures the superstars as the first group to have a trio of No. 1 entrances as well as the fastest group to run their first four No. 1 singles since the Jackson 5 in 1970.

The track became the most streamed song in a single day in Spotify’s history, amassing 20.9 million global streams on the first day. The accompanying music video also set a new all time 24 hour record of 108.2 million views and the biggest music video Premiere on YouTube with 3.9 million peak concurrents.

The GRAMMY nominated band is set to release its new single “Permission to Dance” that will be included in the “Butter” CD single box set coming this Friday, July 9th. “Permission” was written by Ed Sheeran, Steve Mac, Jenna Andrews and Johnny McDaid and produced by Mac, Andrews and Stephen Kirk.

The limited edition CD box set, available on the day the BTS ARMY was founded, will be available in two versions: Peaches and Cream, and will be distributed at random when ordered. Instrumental versions of both songs round out the track listing.

August 6th will see the group release The Besta 2 CD compilation featuring Japanese versions of their biggest hits. Several limited edition configurations will be available featuring 23 tracks with a Blu-ray and DVD component containing several “making of” videos. The compilation, released via Big Hit Entertainment in partnership with Geffen and Interscope, contains “Film Out,” “DNA” and their first-ever English language single, “Dynamite,” which saw them become the first Korean pop act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
