Multi-year run kicks off in St. Louis
We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when, but Garth Brooks has announced a multi-year stadium tour that will kick off in St. Louis in 2019. Brooks outlined the details during a press conference Wednesday morning (Oct 17th) live from the Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
The tour will hit 10-12 cities per year for three years, although no dates were given. Most of the tour will be held at college stadiums, but not all. He will be performing at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis with a second stop at Glendale, AZ. He also alluded to a stop at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts and somewhere in Texas. Concert dates and ticket on-sale information will be announced very soon, but Brooks did tease that five cities will be on sale before Christmas. The stadium tour will feature an all new stage and new band members.
“I wanted to call it the ‘big ass stadium tour’, but they voted me down on that one,” Brooked joked at the media event. “This is the most time I’ve ever put into anything … All the logistics of it is a step up for me.”
No opening acts have been announced as of press time, but Brooks states they are “wide open.”
The news comes as Brooks announced that CBS will air Garth: Live at Notre Dame on December 2nd. The one-off show was set to be the start of the Notre Dame tour, but will be different now that it’s being filmed. “The Road I’m On” will not be the opening song for Notre Dame, but will open the stadium trek next year.
Brooks also confirmed during the press conference that Triple Live has been delayed since it’s part of The Anthology Part III, Live that will be released on November 20th. No new release date has been given, but Brooks will release a new studio album in 2019.
