“Son of a Sinner” tops several country charts

Jelly Roll has scored his first country No. 1 with the Gold-certified single, “Son of a Sinner.” The song tops the country radio charts, Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck. The multi-genre phenomenon shared the news via his social media on Sunday (Jan 8th), reflecting on the feat.

“There is no greater reward for a singer and song writer in Nashville Tennessee than to have the #1 song on country radio. Now imagine that happening to a guy that grew up in this town… a guy that at every turn the first 25 years of his life he made the wrong decision. Imagine everyone telling that guy he had no chance at country radio. ‘You’re too over weight, you have too many tattoos, they will never let another convicted criminal on country radio’ – now imagine country radio proving everyone wrong and taking the chance on the song, the message and the man,” he says.

“If you can imagine that, then you can understanding why I’m so filled with gratitude as tears stream down my face while I type this, I currently have the number 1 song on country radio.

“Thank you to my fans who called and requested this song at their local radio station and celebrated like I did the first time they heard it played— I do this for y’all. Thank you Country Radio and all the DSPs for making Son of a Sinner my first number 1 at country radio. I vow to never let you down or forget the chance you gave me when everyone told you not to!

“I want to take a second to thank my label STONEY CREEK AND BMG- Loba and his misfits — y’all took the biggest chance- every label in town told me I had a better chance signing with a label in LA than to ever have a chance in this town with my history — not only did that not scare BMG it made them want to double down and go all in!”

The track was written by Jelly Roll with fellow Nashville native Ernest and David Ray Stevens.

The past year has seen Jelly Roll breakthrough by claiming his first No. 1 on the rock charts with his debut rock single, “Dead Man Walking” topping the Billboard and Mediabase Rock charts for two weeks and has held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart for 20 weeks. He also made his Grand Ole Opry debut and sold out numerous venues including Colorado’s Red Rocks and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

In November, he released the raw and powerful “She” via Stoney Creek Records/BMG. The latest track of what he refers to as “therapeutic music” is an emotionally truthful ballad that gives a glimpse into the life of a person struggling with addiction as well as those who love them. Jelly Roll is unique in his ability to candidly acknowledge life’s trials and tribulations, as “She” tells the story of a woman amid her struggle with addiction.

For the release, Jelly has partnered with Shatterproof, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the addiction crisis and the devastation caused by the disease of addiction. Eleven people die every hour from a drug overdose and the song increases awareness of addiction prevention, treatment and recovery resources provided by Shatterproof to help save lives.
