Album is due Jan 21st on Republic Records

John Mellencamp’s highly anticipated new album Strictly A One-Eyed Jack is set for release January 21st on Republic Records. The album’s debut single, “Wasted Days,” marks Mellencamp’s first-ever collaboration with Bruce Springsteen.

Further details about Mellencamp’s 25th studio album are expected soon.

Mellencamp is also set to support the project with a 2022 tour. Dates are coming soon.

The Grammy award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member showcases a selection of paintings and assemblages for a return art exhibition at the Museum of Art – DeLand from January 14-March 27, 2022.

An accomplished painter, collector, and activist, Mellencamp exposes unsettling but beautiful truths with an attitude of defiance and narrative sensibility that echoes the earnest voice of the American heartland. In addition to more recent paintings, this exhibition includes a selection of assemblages as well, adding yet another dimension to a unique body of work.

Mellencamp has also contributed music and lyrics to an original music in development with Republic Records, Federal Films and Universal Music. The musical is described as a story about people who live, love and die on the underside of the American Dream in small towns all across our country. This is a tale, laced with humor and visceral energy, about star-crossed lovers, and their stubborn refusal to give up, to lie down, to let go of the potential their youthful dreams once promised. This is also a story about a town in free-fall, and the tough choices people make, not always in their best interests.

Book by MacArthur Fellow, Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and Obie Award winning playwright Naomi Wallace and will be directed by 3x Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. Further details are set to be revealed.
