Series to launch Oct 3rd
Imperative Entertainment, House of Taylor, and Kitty Purry Productions plan to launch Elizabeth the First, a 10-episode podcast series about Elizabeth Taylor as the original influencer, narrated by Katy Perry. The podcast series will premiere October 3rd on all major podcast platforms and the Imperative Entertainment Premium Channel on Apple Podcast Subscriptions.

“Like most people, I was attracted to her glamour, and in my own life, I continue to find myself referencing her through some of my visuals,” Perry shares. “I’ve always felt a kinship towards her – I’ve even literally bathed in the same bathtub where she made that bar-setting Cleopatra deal! I’m inspired by her bold activism, her constant boss moves in business, and through it all, an unapologetic way of loving – all things I try to live in my own life. It’s an honor to be able to share her story in this way.”
Listeners will hear the never-before-heard stories of Elizabeth Taylor’s influence from those closest to her and through exclusive access to audio from the archives of The House of Taylor. Elizabeth the First dives deep into Elizabeth Taylor’s life of influence, with topics that will include Taylor’s fight against the powerful male-dominated movie studio system as a young actress; negotiating the first $1 million salary to star in the 1963 film Cleopatra. The series will tell, for the first time, the full story behind how her savvy moves made her the highest paid actress in the world; surviving her own near-death experience and finding both love and loss throughout her life, persevering along the way; her legacy, and more.
The series is produced by Imperative Entertainment in association with House of Taylor and Kitty Purry Productions. Katy Perry is the narrator and executive producer. Jason Hoch, President, Podcasts for Imperative Entertainment, is executive producer and overall producer for the series. Screenwriter Stephanie Koff is writing the series.
