Clarkson reveals a few details

Kelly Clarkson has teased details about her forthcoming tenth studio album that is set to be released sometime in 2023. The pop star and TV host shared the details in a hilarious Instagram Live last week.

“I have an album coming out this year. I swear,” Clarkson says. “I know I’ve been talking about it, but look, I’m going to be really honest with you — and there’s a really cool way we’re releasing it that we’re formulating right now — but it took a minute for me to be able to release this album because I just had to be over it, through it, all around it. I had to get passed it in order to talk about it because I know people want to ask me about the album and songs, and I just feel like I needed a minute. And I’m glad it took a minute because we actually ended up writing — one of the last songs written for the album might be one of the singles that we up with first, so it’s like really cool. [The album is] a great arc of like a whole relationship. It’s not all sad or mad, but that’s in there.”

Additional details, such as album title and tracks are forthcoming.

In the video, Clarkson also shares guests she hopes will appear on her critically acclaimed Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show this year.

“I would love for Annie Lennox to come on and I want to sing with her,” she adds. “I think Cher and I were supposed to sing together but COVID, you know, that second time around got me, so I couldn’t perform with her. We were supposed to do something with her… I just like performing things that maybe people don’t expect. It keeps it fun. It makes it interesting.”

The project would be her first music of all new material in six years. Meaning of Life was released in 2017 and was nominated for a Grammy. Last June, the Grammy Award winning original American Idol released Kellyoke EPfeaturing six newly recorded studio versions of some of her favorite covers she’s performed on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She released her ninth studio record and second holiday record,When Christmas Comes Around…,” in fall 2021, featuring a mix of new original songs and Christmas classics.

The Kelly Clarkson Show, currently airing its fourth season, has been renewed for through 2025. The show airs in all 211 local markets in premier time periods across the country. Clarkson executive produces the hourlong talker with distribution by NBCUniversal Syndication Studios.
